Yes. The Practical Handbook for the Emerging Artist by
Margaret R. Lazzari
- Will I get credit for this seminar?
Yes. 2 credits towards an elective A.A. Degree. You will receive
a letter grade at the conclusion of the seminar.

- What's on the agenda?
Studio and Research
- Visual Art Terminology (vocabulary)
- application to the understanding and creation of artworks.
You will learn the language of the Visual Arts and how it
is employed/applied in the “real’ (professional)
art world
- Critical Thinking in the Arts
- relationship(s) to other Fine Arts/Language and Humanities
disciplines/courses. Emphasis on interdisplinary application.
- Art Writing (critique/analysis/history)
- emphasis on
essays, research and artist bios/resumès.
- Media (materials,resources,
etc.) - traditional and contemporary uses and applications:
painting,drawing,design,3-D arts.
- Portfolio (compositions and
refinements): emphasis on professional presentation and students
transferring to art academies or universities
- Professional Art Careers - realistic perspectives
and options for one’s creative fulfillment.
- Counseling/Advisement (overview
regarding art schools) - tailoring students to realistic and
prospective academies or universities; individual skills and
strengths.
