Program Guidelines

1. Divisions/programs should have maximum autonomy in the development of their assessment plans, which should include input of faculty, administration and students as appropriate.
2. Assessment should take place on a regular basis and there should be periodic institutional review of programs, including the Assessment Program.
3. Assessment projects will include, but not be limited to, those review activities associated with accreditation. Projects will be prioritized according to potential impact of results for Lincoln College and feasibility of project development.
4. Projects for Lincoln and Normal campuses will be developed to meet the special circumstances and needs of each campus. However, general education assessment at the Associate’s Degree level will be uniform across the two campuses.
5. Participation in the assessment program will be included in employee evaluation. However, assessment results will not be used in any way in evaluation decisions regarding individual employees.
6. Information from individual students, faculty or activities gathered during assessment projects is considered confidential.  Only aggregate or anonymous data, without any individual identifiers, will be disseminated in any way. 
7. Outcomes assessment is the core of academic assessment.  However, evaluation of structures and processes leading to those outcomes is also vital to permit the interpretation and decision-making that lead to continuous improvement. 
8. Whenever feasible, assessment of programs should respond to standards or benchmarks established by appropriate external organizations. However, in assessing Lincoln College programs, the unique features of this institution will always be considered in the evaluation.
9. All assessment activities and all dissemination of assessment results will be coordinated through the Office of Assessment, to assure that activities are not duplicated and that disseminated information is consistent across constituencies.
