Lynx Win Season Opener ST. CHARLES, MO - The Lincoln College Men's Baseball Team began their season on Tuesday. They swept a doubleheader against St. Charles Community College winning the first game 2-1 and the second 8-1. Tony Eckhart pitched for six innings in the first game, giving up only one run with seven hits. Sophomore Jake Buchanan relived Eckhart in the seventh inning and earned the save. The Lynx runs came in the seventh inning when Michael Carnahan got on base with a single. He stole second, and was batted in by Tim McWilliams' single. McWilliams was then batted in on Jesse Vallavares' single. In game two for the Lynx, Sophomore Chris Phillips started pitching. Throwing only 68 pitches over six innings he shut out St. Charles. The eight runs for the Lynx came from Michael Carnahan who went 3-4 scoring 2 runs. Josh Davison had three RBIs while teammate Wes Diefendorf had two. The Lynx will be on the road during Spring Break, playing in Birmingham, Alabama March 6-10. |
