Coach Kirk Whiteman

Head Coach Kirk WhitemanA graduate of Knoxville High School, Coach Whiteman received his Bachelor of Science degree at Bowling Green State University and his Masters at Western Illinois University.

Kirk’s successful playing career began in high school where he received first team All-State honors in the AP, IBCA and Chicago Sun Times and MVP of the IBCA All-Star game. He continued his playing career at Bowling Green State University where he played for Jim Larranaga, the coach who took George Mason on their magical Cinderella run to the NCCA Final Four in 2006. While at Bowling Green, Kirk helped the Falcons reach the post season two out of his four years, helped upset teams such as Michigan State twice and Kentucky, and received Mid-American Conference honors his freshman year. Coach Whiteman was inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame as a player in 2002.

Coach Whiteman started his coaching career at Bowling Green following graduation and has coached at various levels throughout his career. His most recent coaching experience was an assistant coach for seven years at Lincoln College. While at Lincoln College, Coach Whiteman was responsible for the weights and conditioning program and assisted in all aspects of the program. Over those seven years, the Lynx had a record of 168-65, captured 4 conference championships and two National Tournament appearances. Coach Whiteman also serves on the board of directors for the American Youth Basketball TOUR, a summer basketball organization.

Coach Whiteman is also the Men’s Golf coach an Assistant Athletic Director at Lincoln College. Coach Whiteman and his wife Angela reside in Lincoln and have four children Kameron, Brody, Piper, and Maddox.



 

Assistant Coach Cory Farmer

Coach Farmer is entering his fifth year as the Lincoln College men's basketball assistant. He graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 2003 where he played basketball for four years for Hall of Fame coach Neil Alexander. He was CS8 all conference his Junior and Senior years. Coach Farmer continued his playing career at Lincoln Land Community College where he played for Chad Jones. He received all conference and all region honors his sophomore year. He then went on to play his last two years at the University of Illinois Springfield under former Lincoln College and NBA player Kevin Gamble. They went to the National Tournament both years. He received American Midwest all conference as well as honorable mention All American. Every school that Coach Farmer attended his teams held the school record in wins when he graduated. He graduated from the University of Illinois Springfield with a Bachelor degree of Arts in 2007.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assistant Coach Ryan Cross

Ryan Cross enters his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Lynx. Cross’ knowledge of the game allows him to help in scouting report preparation, the Lynx’s guard play, and on-floor coaching.

Prior to Cross joining the coaching staff at Lincoln College, he spent the last seven seasons as an assistant coach at Lincoln Community High School under Neil Alexander. While at LCHS, the Railers won 5 regional championships, 3 sectional championships, and made 2 elite eight appearances. As a high school player, he played 4 years of varsity basketball and baseball, graduating from Lincoln Community High School in 1996.

Cross furthered his athletic career at Millikin University, where he was a two sport athlete in basketball and baseball from1997-1998. He then played basketball and baseball at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business. He currently resides in Lincoln with his wife Amy.

 

 

 

Assiatant Coach Tanner Morris

Coach Tanner MorrisTanner is a native of Normal, IL where he graduated from University High School and Lincoln College-Normal with a B.S. in Sport Management.  Morris is entering his third year at the college level and his second year with the Lynx program.  Morris' first year as an assistant coach was with Howard College, Big Spring, Texas.  The Hawks were the 2010 Division I NJCAA National Champions.
 
As a young, energetic coach Morris has been around the game of basketball his entire life, as his father (Bob Morris, Lincoln College class of 1972) was an NCAA Division 1 coach at Illinois State University.  Morris' other coaching experience includes working Illinois State University basketball camps, assistant coach at the junior high level and two years as an assistant girls coach at University High School.  For the past two summers, Morris has worked at the Midwest Collegiate basketball camp where he helped lead individual workouts for several D-I basketball players. 
 
Morris is very excited to join the Lynx program as they have a very successful tradition and looks to continue growing under Head Coach Kirk Whiteman.
