Loss to Rend Lake Drops Team to 6-6 Record

Rend Lake used foul shooting in the closing minutes to down Lincoln College, 82-79, in the final game of the Lincoln College Classic at Lincoln Saturday afternoon.   The loss drops the Lynx to 6-6 for the season and Rend Lake improves to 8-5.
 
With the score tied at 68-68, Rend Lake scored eight times from the free throw line and had three field goals as they went on to post the victory.  David Inabnit hit the first  throw to break the tie with 4:11 left.  Keith Scarbrough added a foul shot and Jamie Burton hit two charity tosses to give the visitors a 72-68 lead.  Rueben Trotter then hit two foul shots for the Lynx before Burton added two more for Rend Lake.  Lincoln College was unable to get any closer than two points the rest of the way.
 
Rend Lake jumped to a quick 8-2 lead and was never headed in the first half.  The visitors were on top 39-25 before Lincoln College rallied to scored ten straight points and managed to cut the deficit to four points, 41-37, at half-time.
 
The Lynx managed to tie the score several times in the second half but they were never able to get on top.  The score was knotted at 46 before Rend Lake scored seven straight points.   Lincoln then battled to a 60-60 tie only to have Rend Lake score five straight.    The Lynx then tied the game for the last time at 68 before the foul shooting by the Warriors proved to be the difference.
 
Rend Lake finished the game by making 20 of 25 foul shots while Lincoln College was 7 of 14.   The Lynx shot 52 percent (33-63) from the floor while Rend Lake was at 48 percent (27-56).  LC had a 36-31 rebounding edge with Nick Malone pulling down eight to lead the way.
 
Inabnit had 21 points to lead the winners while Rodney Williams scored 21 to top the Lynx.
