Lincoln College Men's Basketball Sign's Players

Lincoln, IL -- The Men’s Basketball team has signed new players to join next year’s team.  The Lynx are looking to reload after last season’s 27-10 (13-3) campaign that captured the Midwest Athletic Conference Championship, Region 24 Championship and a third place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.  These players join Louie Schonauer (Lincoln, IL) who committed to play for the Lynx last month.

DeMarius Sumrell – Peoria Woodruff, 6’1’’Guard.  DeMarius is a very athletic guard that can handle and get to the basket.  He is a great passer who can get others involved, but also has the ability to get a basket when he needs to.  With an improved jump shot and work in the weight room DeMarius has a very bright future.  He played high school basketball at Peoria Limestone.

Jordan Softley – Decatur MacArthur.  6’3’’, 170, Guard.  Jordan brings an athletic slashing presence to the offensive side of the ball.  We are going to work with Jordan on getting stronger and if that happens has the ability to be a great defender because he is so long and athletic.

Kiel Turpin – Normal West.  6’10’’, 215, Post.  Kiel has an incredible upside, and our coaching staff is extremely excited to start working with Kiel this fall.  There are not many 6’10’’ players in our league and if Kiel gets stronger he can be a dominate force in our conference over the next two years.

Chuck Woodson – Carbondale. 6’1’’, 165, Guard.  Chuck has a sneaky explosiveness about him.  He can take it off the dribble to the basket and also shoot the three.  He is long and can guard big and is another great rebounding guard.

Terrell Williams – I.V.C. 6’3’’, 190, Forward.  Terrell is built rock solid and a great athlete.  He finished seventh in the IHSA State Triple Jump last year.  He has a decent mid-range jump shot.  In order for him to reach his full potential, he will have to improve his ball handling on the perimeter.

Roy McElroy – Waubonsie Valley.  6’6’’, 220, Center.  Roy is very athletic and strong.  He can bench press over 270.  He brings an athletic and physical presence to our inside game to compliment Kiel Turpin.  Roy is at his best when he doesn’t let his thought process of what to do freeze his athletic ability.

These players will join Chris Ware, 6’6’’ returning center who was voted 3rd team All-Conference and Kenyon Smith, 5’11'’, a transfer from Illinois State University.  The Lynx still have three scholarship offers out and expect to have recruiting completed by the end of the month.
