Tough First Half Leads To Loss

CENTRALIA - A poor first half was too much for Lincoln College to overcome as they dropped a 52-48 decision to Southwestern Illinois Community College in women's basketball action here Saturday.

The Lynx, 1-2, were able to manage just 14 first half points while Southwestern was tossing in 29 to take a comfortable lead to the locker room.    Lincoln College rebounded in the second half and outscored the winners, 34-23, but they were unable to overcome the deficit.

None of the Lynx were able to reach double figures as Kanisha Pettis was top gun with nine points.  Brittany Ingram and Becky Spears both added eight points for the Lynx.    Southwestern could have won by a larger margin had they made free throws, as the winners connected on just 11 of 25 tries.
