Victory Over Illinois Valley

CANTON - Lincoln College slipped past Illinois Valley Community College, 74-73, in women's college basketball action here Friday afternoon in the opening round of the Spoon River Classic.
 
IVCC jumped in front 35-32 at half-time behind the shooting of Yaklich who hit three baskets from three point land and finished with 11 points in the half. 
 
Coach Carol Wilson of Lincoln College got great balance in the second half as four players scored seven or more points.  Nicole White had eight of her 12 points in the second half while Erica Ernst added eight, Jessica Hamman chipped in nine second half points and Brittany Ingram contributed seven points, including two three point baskets.
 
Lincoln College, 3-4, will play Saturday against Shawnee at noon, in the second round of the Classic.
 
Humman led the Lynx with 22 points while White and Ernst both added 12 and Ingram chipped in with 10.  Yaklich and Yedinak both had 26 points for the losers with Yaklich connecting eight times from behind the three point line.
