Lynx Struggle to Find Season's First Victory

The Lincoln College women's soccer team fell to 0-6 after a pair of recent losses.   The Lady Lynx lost to Southwestern Illinois College, 5-1, Monday afternoon; and were beaten by Valparaiso, 5-0 Saturday.

Against Southwestern, Lincoln College took a 1-0 lead on a goal at the 11 minute mark by Samantha Marcus with an assist from Elise Sommerfeld.  Southwestern tied the score with a corner kick at the 36 minute mark and the visitors then took the lead with three minutes left in the first half.

"We could not break through their defense in the second half," said Coach Aaron Paskavan. "Southwestern keyed on stopping Samantha as they double and triple teamed her.   They put up three goals in the second half and we came up short."

"Against Valparaiso, we only had three shots on goal and our offense was turning the ball over much to quickly.  We have to hold the ball longer to give our defense a chance to catch their breath," concluded Paskavan.

The Lynx are scheduled to play Parkland in Champaign Thursday.
