Lynx Finish Season at NJCAA Tourney

Lincoln College's Eric Mattingley won the 100 yard free style championship in a time of :46.22 at the National Junior College swimming tournament in Florida over the weekend. Mattingly helped Lincoln College to a second place finish in the men's standings with a total of 430 points. Indian River College won the National title with 720 total points.

The Lincoln College women finished third in the team standings with 265 points, just 25 points less than College of DuPage who finished second. Indian River also won the women's National Championship with a score of 817 points.

The Lynx women's 400 freestyle relay team finished second in the nation with a time of 3:48.94. Members of the team were Stephanie Couch, Dianne Lynch, Ashley Jackson and Reanna Guererro.

Couch, a Lincoln High School grad, placed fifth in the 1650 yard free style with a time of 20:25.53; and Emily Simpson was sixth in the same event with a time of 20:32.46. Guererro was a sixth place finisher in the 100 yard free style with a time of :56.10.

Joining Mattingly as places in the top six for the men were Kyle Kirby with a time of 1:51.08, good for second place in the 200 yard fly. The 400 yard free relay team also placed second with James Hnatiuk, Brett Pencar, Kirby and Mattingly swimming the event in 3:07.97.

In the 200 yard breaststroke, Stephen O'Leary placed third with a time of 2:10.34 and Tyler Johnson was fourth with a time of 2:14.03. In the 200 yard back, Hnatiuk was third at 1:55.13 and Will Dickerson was fifth with a time of 1:59.43. Craig Frederiksen placed fifth with a time of 18:03.09 in the 1650 freestyle and Kevin Schafer was sixth at 18:21.85.
