Lynx Win First Round At Regionals

Lincoln College defeated Springfield College in the opening round of the Region 24 volleyball tournament, 30-22, 30-17, 30-28, at the Lincoln Christian College gym Monday night. The Lynx advance to play second seed Shawnee Wednesday night.

"We played a very balanced game Monday, we served the ball well and our passing was consistently accurate which gave our setters the opportunity to efficiently run the offense," said Coach Mark Tippett. "Danielle (Crum) played an outstanding match, leading us in every offensive category. I was especially pleased with the way we did not lose our focus in the third game as SCI did not give up and made us work to win the match in three games."

Crum had eight kills, six blocks, 17 points and six aces to lead the way. Also contributing were Kristin Majka with five kills, two digs, five points and two aces; Kristen Meminger with four kills and four blocks; Erica Lill with four kills and three blocks; Rose Miller with 10 set assists and eight points; Mackenzie Clark with eight set assists and eight points; and Victoria Tuttle, Misty Fry and Chonita Ziegler with three kills each.

Coach Tippett continued, "I believe we are capable of upsetting number two seed Shawnee. We played them once this season losing the match 17-30, 23-30. I feel we are a much stronger team now and are peaking at the right time. If we continue to play as sharply as we have the past three weeks, it should be a very close match."
