Cross Country Teams Ready for National

The men’s and women cross country will be packing their bags for the national meet in Ina,Illinois on November the 10th. Both teams earned their trip to nationals by being ranked in the top 25 in the nation. The men are currently ranked 19th and the women are 23rd. The Lady Lynx have been lead by the trio of Brittany Carpenter, Tari Fisk and Brittany Jibben. Melisa Vandolah has made big strides this year and has solidified the number four spot. The fifth spot has been in rotation between Dierdra Bell, Lindy Allen and Mandie Hurd. The men’s squad has been lead by Chris Matthews and Kyle Staley. The third to fifth spot has been a great battle this year between Jordan Jennings, Chris Lanhum, Justin Critchelow and Mike Cooper. Matt Albert has turned himself into a great number seven runner. Coach Herron said,” I have been very please with the cross country team all year. They have been the most consistent group that I have coached. It has paid off for us this year with the men taking first at the Sauk Valley Invite and the women taking second to beating several four year schools along the way. The last thing for us to do is to perform like I know we can at Nationals.” The national meet will be held at Rend Lake Golf Course in Whittington Illinois on November 10th starting at 10 a.m.
