Ron earned an Associate in Science from Olney Central College, a Bachelor’s in education from Eastern Illinois University, and a Master’s in history from EIU. He has researched, written, and presented extensively on topics relating to Abraham Lincoln, particularly Lincoln in politics and Lincoln in pop culture. He is the co-author of Respect For the Office: Letters of the Presidents, with Tara Hennessey; and co-author of Abraham Lincoln in Logan County, with Paul Beaver and Phil Bertoni. He served on the board of directors of the Abraham Lincoln Association, the Lincoln Forum, and the Tourism Bureau of Logan County. Ron was awarded the Order of Lincoln in 2009, the highest honor given to a citizen by the State of Illinois. He was also awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award by Olney Central College in 2011.
