Bravick Takes Medalist Honors in First Collegiate Tournament
West Frankfort, IL — Lincoln College men’s golfer, Aaron Bravick, a freshman from Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School, took medalist honors with a 3 over par 74 and an even par 71 for a low 145 (+3).
Bravick was tied for 9th going into the final round and shot 3 under on his last nine to win the tournament that was played at Franklin County Country Club in West Frankfort, IL. He outshot Josh Harp (147) from Rend Lake and Zack Holland (148) from Lewis and Clark to take the win in his first collegiate tournament. The Region 24 Preview Tournament was won by the host Rend Lake College (594) with John A. Logan (598) finishing second. John A. Logan is the defending 2011 NJCAA National Champion.
Lincoln College is part of Region 24, which is comprised of nine Junior Colleges that have a golf program in Southern Illinois. Region 24 has produced two out of the last three NJCAA National Champions and is one of the toughest Junior College Regions to play.
“I thought Aaron did a great job of finishing out his round and that is what great golfers do – finish!”, Head Coach Kirk Whiteman said. “We have a really young team with four freshman and a transfer who played only half the season last year, so I am looking for continued improvement from everyone.” continued Whiteman.
“As for Aaron, I think his best golf days are in front of him because of his passion and work ethic for success. This is going to be a fun year for him.”
