LC Volleyball Pick Up 3-Set Win at Lewis & Clark
October 4, 2013
Godfrey, IL – On Wednesday night the Lincoln College Volleyball Team got back in the winner’s circle by picking up a road win at Lewis & Clark Community College. Lincoln started out hot behind the serving of sophomore setter Jordan Michaels who helped lead them to a 5-0 advantage before the Trailblazers were able to side out. Lincoln held the lead throughout the set to win it 25-12. Sets two and three were much closer as the two teams traded leads most of the way, but the Lady Lynx came out on top each time to win the match in three sets (25-12, 25-20, 25-22). Lincoln improved their record to 9-13 overall and 3-3 in Region play.
Morgan Lesher 7 kills, 6 points
Jenna Harcharick 6 kills, 2 blocks
Latasha Fizer 5 kills, 10 points, 5 digs
Sierra Wilson 3 kills, 5 blocks
Jordan Michaels 10 set assists, 11 points
Jessa Coker 7 set assists, 6 digs
Taylor Hewitt 16 digs, 2 points
Kristin Davis 3 blocks
Coach Mark Tippett: Everything seemed to click for us tonight. We passed the ball well and played extremely hard on defense which gave our offense a chance to work. Our blockers did an excellent job at the net as well. We looked a lot more comfortable in our new rotation which led to an increase in confidence that we have been lacking lately. The win was significant for us because it helps us toward our goal of securing a home match for the first round of Regional play. We have our final Region match next week at SWIC and if we are able to win it, we will be in line for the fourth seed in the Region. If we bring the same intensity to the court next week as we did tonight, I like our chances.
Lincoln will host a triangular set of matches on Saturday. They first play Oakton CC at 10:00 AM then take on Black Hawk College at 2:00 PM.
