School Groups:

Teaching Enrichment at the Museum

We encourage schools to use our museum to facilitate the learning in the classroom. Museum staff have initiated a program called the T.E.A.M. project (Teaching Enrichment At the Museum). This includes a multi-age and multi-disciplinary educational experience in which the museum staff both invites students into the museum to use it as an educational resource; but additionally, T.E.A.M. serves as an outreach to area schools after the visit if desired. In the museum, we offer first-person storytelling, slide presentations, story time, scavenger hunts, and hands-on examination of certain collections, depending on the age. Call the museum for full details of how the museum can benefit your school, your classroom, and your students.

Lincoln, Illinois

Abraham Lincoln christened the town of Lincoln on August 27, 1853.  In the ceremony, Lincoln took a watermelon from a nearby wagon, broke open the melon and poured the juice on the ground to christen the town.  Abraham Lincoln would know the city very well.  The town became the first to be named after Lincoln before his election to the presidency.

In addition to the Lincoln Heritage Museum, there are several other wonderful attractions, motel accommodations, and fine dining establishments.  For more information, visit http://www.logancountytourism.org or call 217-732-8687
