What do you like about the Bloomington/Normal area?
I like that Bloomington-Normal is a bigger city but still has a “small town” feel. There are several shopping centers and great restaurants here to occupy your time, but the area is also just a few short hours away from Chicago and St. Louis!
One thing every prospective Lincoln College-Normal student should know?
LCN faculty and staff are truly dedicated to the success of their students. The small class sizes allow for professors to give students personalized attention as well as an interactive classroom experience.
How is Lincoln College-Normal different from other colleges and universities?
In addition to the devoted faculty, LCN offers a great alternative to typical dormitory-style living arrangements found on other campuses. At LCN, you can live on-campus in spacious, furnished apartments that are a short walk to the main Academic building.

Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, planning events, and attending/watching sports (football, basketball, hockey, track and field, etc.). I am a sports junkie!
One of your most interesting jobs: I have had several interesting jobs. I have worked in the convention and hospitality industry, and I have met some very interesting people from all walks of life. I never knew there were so many associations out there! In addition, working in higher education is my passion and my life! I have met some wonderful and awesome students who have I have learned from as well as they have learned from me. I enjoy planning and programming.
What I like best about LCN? I love the small community that we have on campus. Everyone knows one another by their first name. I like that we are a small campus in a college town with over 20,000 college students.
What I like about being an Admissions Counselor? The college admissions process can be both an exciting and confusing time in a student’s life, and I am so glad that I can be a resource for them. This is the first major decision that many students will face in life and that can make the process quite intimidating. I enjoy helping students to realize their potential as well as helping students through the college admissions process. I believe everyone deserves an opportunity to get a college education.
Advice for students/college search tip:
- Do your research. Compare various universities on multiple factors to decide if the school is right for you. You should learn about the quality of the academic program in which you are interested and ask questions during this process.
- Get involved inside and outside of the classroom. There several clubs and organizations on campus as well as intramural sports through Illinos State University. The college years are ones that you won’t get back. Seize these moments and have fun (and make good grades too)!
- Be an individual. There are many pressures for people in general and the transition from high school to college will be no different. This will be a time to grow and learn new things, but stay true to who you are.
What are some of your favorite things to do in Bloomington/Normal? I enjoy walking on Constitution Trail which is a 24+ mile hard surfaced trail running through the Twin Cities that has been developed for walking, hiking, jogging, biking and cross country skiing. It provides the community with another leisure use facility for the entire family. Also, Bloomington-Normal is known for its many restaurants. I often joke and tell families that we are the restaurant capital of Illinois.

One of your most interesting jobs: I worked at ISU as a writing tutor. I was also the 3rd string receptionist.
What I like best about LCN?: The campus and the people
What I like about being an Admissions Counselor? I like being able to let students know that they have been accepted to LCN and helping them make the transition to college life or the transition from their previous school to LCN.
Advice for students/college search tip: Get help! If you feel like you could be doing better in a class, or don’t know what to do in order to do better, ask someone for help. LCN has a free tutoring center and plenty of faculty and staff members that are always willing to offer assistance. Don’t wait until you’ve already received the grade you didn’t want to ask how you could have done better.
What are some of your favorite things to do in Bloomington/Normal? Spending time with friends: going out to eat, hanging out in Uptown Normal, going to sporting events, seeing movies, Farmer’s Markets.

Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy practicing new cosmetology trends on my friends and family, organizing (any and everything, it’s a curse), and creating graphic design material such as logos, brochures and flyers.
One of your most interesting jobs: Facilities Coordinator at a hotel spa located downtown, Chicago. Not only did I gain experience in the hospitality industry but I also ‘ran into’ celebrities on a daily basis!
What I like best about LCN? The familiar faces. It’s refreshing to work at a place where I feel like I’ve known my coworkers my whole life! Also, due to the intimate size of our campus, I get to interact with our students daily.
What I like about being an Admissions Counselor? It’s similar to ‘matchmaking’-I enjoy the challenge of ensuring an accurate student-college match. It’s extremely important that LCN is the best choice for our students and that our students are the best ‘fit’ for our college.
Advice for students/college search tip: Visit the campus…multiple times, if needed! All campuses will feel foreign at first, in order to fairly evaluate a college you really need to ‘try it out’. So, on your visit(s), test out the computer lab, check out the on-campus apartments, meet our staff/faculty/student population and really get a good feel for the LCN lifestyle.
What are some of your favorite things to do in Bloomington/Normal? Out of 175+ dining establishments, 57+ pastimes, 41+ shops, 1 zoo/aquarium, and a number of spa’s, landmarks, and golf courses…it’s hard for me to choose!

One of your most interesting jobs: MCC Admissions- Enables me to interact with interesting people every day and allows me to put forth creativity in the various projects.
What I like best about LCN? LCN gives students the opportunity to receive one-on-one attention with a smaller teacher-to-student ratio as well as college experience through on-campus living. MCC provides an exceptional education on several programs including Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Massage Therapy, and an innovative look into the salon industry. The school is a multi-manufactured salon offering a wide range of products and product knowledge for its students and guests.
What I like about being an Admissions Counselor? I enjoy the Admissions process. It is always rewarding to recruit students who have a passion for a particular industry and then see them succeed throughout their program in school.
Advice for students/college search tip: Find something to study that you love and you will enjoy your work.
What are some of your favorite things to do in Bloomington/Normal? I love trying the numerous restaurants Bloomington/Normal has to offer. I also like to take advantage of riding bikes and walking on the trails located throughout the town.
