Lincoln College – Normal Appoints New Director of Marketing and Public Relations

Normal, Ill. – Following a national search, Lincoln College-Normal (LCN) is pleased to announce that Melissa Rohlfs has been selected as the new Director of Marketing and Public Relations. In this role, she will oversee the College’s marketing, public relations, media relations, and community relations initiatives.
“This is an exciting time for LCN and Central Illinois in general and we are delighted that Melissa has joined us,” said Dr. A. Gigi Fansler, Executive Vice President of Lincoln College - Normal. “We recently unveiled two new bachelor’s degree programs and our adult accelerated degree program continues to grow. Melissa will continue to share our program updates with the Bloomington-Normal community so that it can continue to be informed about our outstanding academic program and the great work being done on campus. Her expertise is a great resource to the college as we continue to address the education needs of Central Illinois’ employers as well as the unique needs of adult learners in our community.”
Rohlfs joined LCN from University of Puget Sound, a nationally-ranked liberal arts college in Tacoma, Wash. There she served as Media Relations Manager since 2003. During her time at Puget Sound, she launched successful public relations campaigns in support of the college’s efforts to build a $52 million dollar science center, as well as other programs benefiting the surrounding community such as the Civic Scholarship Initiative, and the National Race and Pedagogy conference.
During a 16-year career in Public Relations, she has worked for numerous organizations including State Farm Insurance Companies, FEMA, and provided P.R. consultation for other small firms, charities, and non-profit groups.
A 1992 graduate of the University of Washington, Rohlfs has a bachelor’s degree in Communications. She is a long-time member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). A supporter of numerous education and arts initiatives, Rohlfs was a member of the Tacoma Art Museum’s Activities Council. She began her duties at LCN on October 27.
