Lincoln College-Normal Hosts Criminal Justice Seminar on April 16

Normal, Ill. - The Criminal Justice studies department at Lincoln College- Normal (LCN) is hosting a seminar and public forum on crime and justice in Central Illinois. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Thursday, April 16, 7 p.m., in the Student Commons building, 715 W. Raab Road.

The keynote address will be given by the Reverend Stanley Irvin. Prior to attending a seminary, Irvin earned five degrees from various institutions. He served 16 years as a prosecuting attorney and became well known for his skills in the courtroom having successfully tried a number of high-profile murder cases. Irvin is licensed to practice law in Illinois and New York.

In addition to the highly-anticipated keynote address by Irvin, several graduating seniors will present current research on crime and safety. Dr. James Fagin, Dean of the Criminal Justice studies department, invites a select group of students to present the latest research and their findings on a variety of topics related to crime and safety in the community This year’s theme is “Recovery and Reform” and will include discussions about: domestic violence; sexual assault; the reentry of prisoners into society; and the judicial process for juveniles tried as adults.
