Orientation Event Gives Incoming Students A ‘PROP’ Up To College Success
Event Teaches Students How to Succeed at College Life
Normal, Ill. – As any graduate will tell you, the rules are different in college. Unlike high school, no one calls home if you skip class, and your parents don’t make you do your homework every afternoon. With that freedom comes a great deal of responsibility.
So, with summer just barely underway, LC-N is asking incoming freshmen to postpone any plans they may have and spend just a little time on campus.
Beginning June 12, groups of incoming freshmen will come together on the LC-N campus to attend a 1/2 day orientation known as P.R.O.P. (Placement, Registration and Orientation Period). During the day, they receive their student ID cards, meet fellow classmates, register for fall classes, take placement tests, and learn more about life at Lincoln College, including student committees and organizations. “Students who attend our orientations tell us year after year just what a great start it is to their college career! They enjoy the early registration and especially appreciate getting to know their fellow classmates and the faculty in this more intimate environment. It takes away some of those first-day jitters we all remember!” said Ashley Stultz, an admissions counselor at LC-N and co-chair of the P.R.O.P. planning committee.
“P.R.O.P. is just the beginning of a freshman student’s experience at LC-N. It’s cool to see students connect during P.R.O.P. Often, they are friendships that last throughout their four years at LC-N,” added Clint Smith, assistant director of Residential and Student Life and co-chair of the P.R.O.P. Planning Committee.
