Certificate in Dental Management Services Offered By Lincoln College-Normal

Beginning August 2010, Lincoln College —Normal (LCN) will launch a new online accelerated degree program—the Certificate in Dental Management Services . This 18-credit hour certificate was created based on feedback from dentists, dental professionals, and members of the Illinois State Dental Society Education Committee who expressed the need to train and retain well-qualified office managers.
The Certificate is designed to assist people with or without a health care background in developing skills in accounting, marketing, management, problem solving, insurance reimbursement, communication, and human resources and to obtain essential expertise for managing and supporting dental practices and offices.
The curriculum design incorporates classes in Financial Accounting, Principles of Management, Health Care Marketing and the Fundamentals of Dental Practice Management. The latest is a brand new course that would introduce students to dental terminology, successful patients-dentists-insurance communication, and major dental software/s. The course culminates with the applied practical project where students have an opportunity to employ classroom knowledge in the real life situations of the dental practices.
