Normal, Ill. –Monica Fortune was selected as Director of Admissions for Lincoln College-Normal. In this role, she will supervise all student recruitment for the campus including community college transfers, traditional degree programs, the online Bachelor’s degree completion programs and enrollment at Midwest College of Cosmetology. She began her duties on Aug. 16

When announcing Monica’s appointment, Dr. A. Gigi Fansler, Executive Vice President at LCN, said, “Monica possesses an extensive background in higher education recruitment including working with a wide variety of student populations. Coupled with her vast experience on diversity initiatives, co-institutional programs, and corporate recruiting, she immediately stood out as an ideal candidate. We feel confident she will contribute greatly to the leadership team and help further Lincoln College’s desire to expand its recruitment processes.”

Prior to this post, Ms. Fortune held a variety of roles related to recruiting including working as the University Talent Acquisition Manager at Baker Hughes, Inc in Houston, the Associate Director of MBA Admissions and Diversity at The University of Texas at Austin, and the Associate Director of Undergraduate Education at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

In addition to her role at Lincoln College-Normal, Fortune is active in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and BANSAGO, a local intramural fraternity organization which donates meals to needy families during the holidays.

When asked what thrilled her the most – being able to move to a small, liberal arts college or just moving back to Central Illinois, Monica responds, “Well, that’s a tough one. On the one hand, a great education changes lives and my goal is to help provide opportunities to students. It’s thrilling to be a part of the process, as we help students recognize this unique and amazing academic experience.” Then, after pausing for a moment she added, “But overall, it’s really great to reconnect with so many of my friends and family members. Bloomington-Normal is a thriving community.  I guess I don’t have to choose because I get to experience both!”
