Alcohol Policy
Lincoln College-Normal is considered to be a dry campus, meaning no alcohol and no empty alcohol containers are allowed in any campus facility or on the campus grounds. This policy is stated explicitly in the Lincoln College-Normal student handbook. View the student handbook - PDF 681 KB
Alcohol Policy. Including but not limited to: Students shall not consume, possess, possess by consumption, purchase, distribute, or sell any alcoholic beverages or maintain containers regardless of age.
Further:
- Possession, possession by consumption, or service of alcoholic beverages or containers by persons is prohibited on Lincoln College-Normal property or at Lincoln College-Normal sponsored events.
- Being intoxicated in public and/or being disorderly or destructive during or following the consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
- Kegs (including cooler balls) and/or any other sources of alcohol distribution in Lincoln College-Normal residence halls/apartments and on Lincoln College-Normal property are prohibited.
- Alcohol drinking contests shall not be included in any social event or activity.
- The Alcohol Policy applies to all Lincoln College-Normal students, guests including parents/guardians, and employees during the time they are on campus or at student-sponsored events.
Alcohol Violation Sanction Guidelines
Alcohol violations are normally adjudicated by the Director of Residential and Student Life or the Director’s designee. More serious or repeated violations of this policy may also be adjudicated by the Dean of Student Affairs.
First alcohol violation – sanctions may include but are not limited to:
- Documentation letter
- Fine
- Educational component –e-Chug plus reflection paper, attend alcohol education programming event on campus
- Community Service
- Social Probation (one semester)
Second alcohol violation – sanctions may include but are not limited to:
- Documentation letter
- Fine
- Mandatory attendance at ISU Health Services Alcohol Education Program
- Community Service
- Parental Notification (if dependent student)
- Social Probation (one year)
Third (and any subsequent) alcohol violations – sanctions may include but are not limited to:
- Documentation letter
- Fine
- Parental notification (if dependent student)
- Mandatory assessment with an outside agency at student's expense; follow through with any indicated/recommended plan.
- Potential suspension of on campus housing privileges
- Potential dismissal from College
Additional Legal Consequences associated with Alcohol use:
- Underage consumption
- Public intoxication
- Illegal transportation
- Providing alcohol to minors
- DUI
