Lincoln College Radio Features New Spanish Program

Lincoln, IL – January 24, 2008– Lincoln College’s student run radio station WLNX FM 88.9 (89X) will debut a new weekly Spanish-Speaking program on Sunday, February 3, 2008, entitled “Encuentros” (English: Encounters). The one hour program will air at 12:00 noon every Sunday, featuring Spanish music, news, and human interest stories.

The program is being produced by instructor Maria Bailey’s Spring 2008 “Conversational Spanish” class at Lincoln College. Students are producing the program for college credit. “We did a program like this many years ago on WLNX,” Bailey said. “And, the response from the community was phenomenal. I’m excited about bringing it back.”

WLNX General Manager John Malone added, “With a growing Spanish-speaking population, many stations across America are beginning to reach out to this underserved community. I’m thrilled to have our Spanish students providing a service like this to Lincoln and the surrounding area.”

The program will also be heard live on the WLNX internet stream at www.wlnxradio.com.
