Lincoln, IL –May 5, 2008- Lincoln College President John Hutchinson announced today that Fourth District Appellate Judge James A. Knecht of Normal will give this year’s Commencement address. The 141st commencement will be held Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. in Davidson-Sheffer Gymnasium.
Before being elected to the Fourth District Appellate Court in 1986 Knecht worked as an Associate Circuit Judge (1975-78) and as a Circuit Judge (1978-86). Judge Knecht is chair of the Appellate Court Administrative Committee, a member of the Illinois State and McLean County Bar Associations, and is a fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation.
Lincoln College President John Hutchinson said he is honored to have Judge Knecht speak. “Judge Knecht is an outstanding role model and we are very privileged to have him join us as this year’s commencement speaker,” said Hutchinson.
Approximately 215 students will receive an Associates of Arts degree at the Lincoln College at Lincoln commencement ceremony. A reception for the graduates and their families will immediately follow the ceremony.
