Lincoln, IL – May 9, 2008–Lincoln College and the Lincoln Elks #914 Country Club are again joining forces in helping kids learn to play the game of golf. LC and the Elks are hosting the second annual national skill development golf program called, Hook A Kid On Golf. The program is administered by the National Alliance for Youth Sports and is aimed at youngsters who normally would not have the opportunity to learn to play the sport of golf.
A Tee Level Clinic where youngsters receive six sessions of free instruction in the fundamentals of playing golf starts June 2. Sessions will be held June 2, 4, 9, 11, 16 and 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Elks Country Club.
Youngsters will receive a starter set of golf clubs, a golf shirt, golf balls, and other supplies such as an easy-to-understand rule book. Youngsters between the ages of 8 and 15 are able to participate free of charge through the generosity of the Elks Charitable Trust Foundation along with a special grant from both the State and National Hook A Kid On Golf Foundations. To be eligible to participate, youngsters must have never played golf, not own a set of golf clubs, and be between the ages of 8 and 15.
“Lincoln College and the Elks Charitable Trust, are excited about the opportunity to host this program again”, said John Stoltzenburg, local Hook A Kid On Golf Site Coordinator. “Most kids have unlimited opportunities to play sports such as baseball, basketball, and football, but only a select few get the opportunity to learn about golf,” said Stoltzenburg.
The program kicks off June 2 and runs on Monday’s and Wednesday’s until June 18. For more information or register for this program, contact the following individuals at Lincoln College: John Stoltzenburg at (217) 732-3155 ext. 327 or Jeff Nelson at (217) 732-3155 ext. 315.
