Public Invited to Join Lincoln College for 5K Run/1-Mi. Walk this Weekend

The entire Lincoln community is invited to join alumni and friends of Lincoln College for the fourth annual Run, Ramble and Roll this Saturday, April 25, at 9:30 a.m. The 5K run and one-mile walk is being held in conjunction with reunion weekend and provides an opportunity for folks to come together in support of higher education while enjoying a healthy outdoor activity. The event kicks off at Meyer-Evans Student Center, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $25 per person or $50 for a family of four.

After the run and walk, the public is encouraged to remain on campus as LC prepares to retire the Davidson-Sheffer Gymnasium, the site of many exciting moments in Lincoln’s sports-rich history, which is being replaced by the new Lincoln Center. An alumni volleyball game will be held at 1:00 p.m., followed by women’s basketball at 2:00 p.m. and a men’s basketball game at 3:00 p.m. The events are free to spectators, with a $5 t-shirt fee for alumni wishing to participate in the games.

Lincoln College’s reunion weekend will also include an entire slate of activities to honor alumni and provide opportunities to reminisce with old friends. The festivities kick-off on Friday evening with a wine and cheese reception in McKinstry Memorial Library, followed by entertainment provided by a student improvisation comedy group and an African percussion ensemble. Events on Saturday include a meet-and-greet with current and former LC coaches and guided campus tours.

Members of graduating class years that end in four and nine will be honored this year, along with special recognition for alumni celebrating their twenty-fifth and fiftieth class anniversaries.

In addition, three distinguished alumni have been selected to receive awards for their service and accomplishments over the years. Former Lynx athletic director and baseball coach, Chuck Lindstrom, will receive the Honorary Alumni Award. Matt Hughes (’95), nine-time Ultimate Fighting champion, will receive the Young Alumni Award. The Alumni Achievement Award in Government Service will be presented to Arthur “AJ” King, Jr. (’83), an Air Force Security Specialist and winner of several commendation medals.
