Lincoln, Ill. – Lincoln College is pleased to announce four new appointments to its Board of Trustees: Michael E. Fisher, Glen E. Tomlinson, M.D., Jeffrey Swallow, Ph.D., and Steve Walker, CPCU. Their terms will end in 2012.
Mr. Fisher lives in Chicago and is the director of New Market Development for Country Financial. He is a graduate of Bradley University and completed his graduate studies at DePaul University. His other board appointments include Community Mental Health Council, the Illinois Facilities Fund, South Suburban College Foundation, and Children’s Home & Aid.
Dr. Tomlinson resides in Bloomington, Ill. He is a retired senior attending physician at Rush Presbyterian Medical Center in Chicago and also a retired professor of Family Practice at U of I – Chicago. He completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at U of I Chicago. In addition to his role at LC, he serves on the Tomlinson Family Foundation.
Dr. Swallow, a resident of Naperville, is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Magnetol International, Inc., based in Downers Grove. An LC alumnus, he went on to complete his studies at U of I Chicago and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He later received a Ph.D. in Organization Development from Benedictine University. Dr. Swallow will continue to serve on the boards of directors for North Central College and the DuPage Regional Development Alliance.
Mr. Walker, CPCU, lives in Bloomington, Ill., where he is the assistant vice president of Learning and Development for State Farm Insurance Companies. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri and has received the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation from the American Institute. He holds leadership positions with several organizations including the boards of directors for the Harvard Learning and Innovation Laboratory, Learning and Development Roundtable, the Society for CPCU, and ASTD.
When asked to comment on the appointments, President John Hutchinson responded, “I am very pleased because each one of these individuals brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership experiences to the role. It is a particularly exciting time in our history, as we continue to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Normal Campus, as well as the upcoming completion of the new Lincoln Center on the Lincoln campus. As we continue to evolve as an institution, we will be able to draw on their unique perspectives to assure we continue meeting the needs of our students, faculty, and the community.”
The Lincoln Center at Lincoln College is a multi-million dollar complex that will house the college’s impressive Abraham Lincoln collections, as well as a state-of-the-art venue for athletic events, concerts and other fine arts performances.
