Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR)

You are cordially invited to attend Lincoln College’s Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) program. Join your peers and their families for an eventful and informative day. You will leave campus with your Lincoln College photo ID and class schedule for Fall Semester 2011! Members of the Lincoln College community are committed to assisting you in what promises to be a great beginning to your Lincoln College education. Get in the Higher Education Game today!

Now is the time to select a SOAR day to attend. All incoming students are required to take part in one of these days. To be eligible to attend SOAR and secure your classes for Fall 2011, Lincoln College Admissions must have a record of your enrollment deposit. COMPASS TEST: Most students will take a COMPASS test at SOAR. The COMPASS success plan will allow us to determine your Math and English college readiness. COMPASS will also assist your advisor with registering you for classes. It may be helpful to look at sample questions before taking the COMPASS tests. Visit the following sites to get an idea of what to expect.

• Writing Skills
• Math: pre-algebra and intermediate algebra
• College algebra, geometry, trigonometry

If you are a student with a disability, we encourage you to contact the Office for Disability Services prior to your SOAR date in order to determine appropriate accommodations. Contact ODS at 217-735-5050, ext. 227, or ODS@lincolncollege.edu.

The day begins at 9:00 a.m. SHARP and ends at 2:00 p.m. You can expect to COMPASS, register for classes, experience lunch in our dining hall and hear from key people on campus.

There will be a financial aid workshop at SOAR. Please bring with you: 2010 tax return, 2010 W-2, FAFSA pin #’s, listing of savings and investment amounts, so that we can help you complete your financial aid process with Lincoln College.

**Residence Hall Tours will be given at the end of the day. All interested students and parents should meet back in the Lincoln Center.

How Do I Begin The SOAR Experience?

Step 1: Register – Sign up for the SOAR date you wish to attend. So that we can schedule an advising appointment for you. RSVP Online Today! or call the Admissions Office at 800-569-0556. Make sure your information is correct, current, and complete.

Step2: Plan to Attend – You won’t want to miss a thing! It is extremely important that you make plans to stay for this entire event. We cannot accomodate requests to leave early. A confirmation will be sent to you once we have received your reservation. Lincoln College looks forward to seeing you soon.

SOAR Tip: Fall 2011 courses and SOAR 2011 sessions fill quickly…the earlier you attend a SOAR date, the more choices you will have when selecting your fall course schedule. Reserve your spot for an early SOAR session TODAY!
