How We View Our History: The Changing Image of the 16th President
How has Lincoln’s image been used through the years? Using images of historic prints from the last two centuries and clips from a variety of motion pictures from the last century, Ron Keller demonstrates how historical events and the lens of popular culture have shaped and altered public perceptions of one of America’s greatest icons, Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln and the Legacy of Race and Slavery
How should Lincoln be viewed within the context as the “Great Emancipator”? Ron Keller shows Lincoln’s words and traces the imagery and historical documents that present both sides of the ongoing debate on Lincoln’s legacy of race and slavery. In discussing Lincoln’s views on equality, emancipation, and colonization, the audience can decide whether he was a progressive or reluctant anti-slavery man.
