Counseling and Transfer
Counseling
services are available to all Lincoln College students. The counseling
office personnel offer assistance to students who are experiencing
normal developmental challenges, as well as students who are challenged
by the process of transition from high school to Lincoln College.
Assistance is also provided for the transition from Lincoln College
to any baccalaureate program.
The counseling and transfer center is located in the Student Services
building. The counseling program is staffed Michelle Bauer,
Director of Counseling.
Appointments can be scheduled Monday through Friday. Please know
that telephone calls and personal visits to the counseling center
by parents,
guardians, and prospective students
are both
welcomed and encouraged.
Dual Admission
Lincoln College offers a Dual Admission Agreement with other four-year institutions in which associate degree seeking students may participate. The Dual Admissions Agreement between the two institutions offers degree seeking students the ability to enroll simultaneously in both institutions. The following four-year institutions have Dual Admission Agreements with Lincoln College: Eureka College, Lewis University, Springfield College – Benedictine, Long Island University-C.W. Post Campus, Quincy University, Aurora University, St. Ambrose University, and Western Illinois University. See an admission counselor or your academic advisor for more information regarding the Dual Admission Agreement.
Transfer Support Services
Recognizing that Lincoln College
is the first two years of a student’s baccalaureate experience,
Lincoln College affords significant and in depth transfer support.
Each academic year the Lincoln College counseling department organizes
and presents two major
transfer
events.
Fall Transfer Event
Each
fall an elaborate
transfer fair program is presented for Lincoln College sophomores.
At this event transfer representatives
from over forty-five public and private in state and out of state
colleges and universities are present to explain personally and
in depth what educational options exist at their institution for
the
Lincoln College graduate.
Spring Transfer Event
In the spring the Private
Illinois Colleges and Universities (P.I.C.U.) organization sends
representatives
to campus for a mini transfer
fair to assist Lincoln College sophomores in the transfer process.
Other Events
Throughout the academic year, both in and out of state,
public and private college and universities send representatives
to campus to provide current information about the transfer
process.
Transfer Network
The counseling staff
has established an extensive network and maintains a strong rapport
with transfer
counselors
at over
400 potential transfer destinations. High profile attendance
and participation
by Lincoln College counseling personnel at state and national
professional conferences, on campus orientations, and state
articulation conferences
facilitate and enhance this effort.
